Dance in the rain

The rain dance is a ceremonial dance that is interpreted to invoke rain and to ensure the protection of the harvest. There are many versions of the rain dance in different cultures, the first comes from ancient Egypt. It is still today the Balkans, in a ritual said paparuda (Romanian) or perperuna (Slavic).

The rain dance is also an American tradition. The Cherokee tribe of Native Americans in the Southeastern United States, carrying out this type of dances to promote rain and rid the land of evil spirits. The legend claims that the tribe ritual caused by rain contains the spirits of ancient tribal chiefs, in fall, face the evil spirits in the intermediate plane between our reality and the spiritual world. During the ceremony, the dancers are adorned with feathers and turquoise symbolize the wind and rain respectively. Many traditions of dance rain have been transmitted through oral traditions. The dance of the rain helped the Native Americans to spend the dry summers.
